Court restrains imo gov't from relocating Ekeukwu Owerri market

Owerri-An Imo State High Court managed by justice Sabinus I. Opara, yesterday, limited the state government from pulverizing, migrating or altering the Ekeukwu Owerri market, pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit,
Gov Rochas Okorocha

Different respondents incorporated the Government of Imo State, the Attorney General of Imo State, and the Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Planning.
Justice Opara, who was not particularly happy that the defendants were not represented in court, additionally said that there was evidence that they were legitimately presented with the court processes.

While ordering that the status quo should be maintained, the Judge also directed that the State Attorney General should not only be served with the order of court, but must also appear in person on September 8, 2016, the next adjourned date.

Tending to the court prior, guidance to Owerri indigenes, Ken C. O. Njemanze, SAN, said "the offended parties are looking for a request of interlocutory order controlling the respondents, their workers, officers and/or operators from, in whatever way, crushing, wrecking, evacuating, moving or meddling with the everyday running or operation of the Ekeukwu Owerri Market, the topic of the suit".
